Hungry Butterflies
On quiet afternoons, our amateur lepidopterist, Ceris, will lie in wait for the arrival of hungry butterflies. They come for the floral feast of nettles, garlic mustard & cuckoo flowers that flourish undisturbed beneath the shaded leafy canopy of the churchyard. Brimstone, peacock, comma, speckled wood, orange tip, holly blue & small white have all been spotted to have found a ready meal in the churchyard's urban refuge where they also find a brief respite from the ills of the modern world which threaten the very survival of these winged beauties.
